twelve days of post-k xmas, part deux

i started thinking that maybe i should write a sequel to last year's "twelve days of post-katrina xmas," my silly little ditty that took on a life of its own and gave me 15 minutes of fame on xmas eve. yesterday morning i was finally inspired.

It’s a year after Katrina, and I would love to see
My street without a pile of storm debris.

One year after Katrina, and I’d be psyched to see
Honest politicians
And my street without a pile of storm debris.

A year after Katrina, and I still hope to see
Streetcars on St. Charles
Honest politicians
And my street without a pile of storm debris.

A year after Katrina, and maybe soon we’ll see
No more broken stoplights
Streetcars on St. Charles
Honest politicians
And my street without a pile of storm debris.

A year after Katrina, and still we long to see
CATEGORY FIVE LEVEES!
No more broken stoplights
Streetcars on St. Charles
Honest politicians
And my street without a pile of storm debris.

A year after Katrina, and perhaps one day we’ll see
Theatre at the Saenger
CATEGORY FIVE LEVEES!
No more broken stoplights
Streetcars on St. Charles
Honest politicians
And my street without a pile of storm debris.

A year after Katrina, and someday we might see
No more FEMA trailers
Theatre at the Saenger
CATEGORY FIVE LEVEES!
No more broken stoplights
Streetcars on St. Charles
Honest politicians
And my street without a pile of storm debris.

A year after Katrina, and I’m still waiting to see
Nagin doing his job
No more FEMA trailers
Theatre at the Saenger
CATEGORY FIVE LEVEES!
No more broken stoplights

And my street without a pile of storm debris.

A year after Katrina, and we all want to see
The Corps being held accountable
Nagin doing his job
No more FEMA trailers
Theatre at the Saenger
CATEGORY FIVE LEVEES!
No more broken stoplights

And my street without a pile of storm debris.

A year after Katrina, and who knows if we’ll see
Congress giving a damn
The Corps being held accountable
Nagin doing his job
No more FEMA trailers
Theatre at the Saenger

A year after Katrina, and will we ever see
Curbside recycling

No more FEMA trailers

A year after Katrina, and fingers crossed we’ll see
Coté Sud reopen

Duuuude. Cote Sud never reopened? That makes me want to cry! I used to eat there every week when I lived on Pine Street.
